Levy Art & Architecture is founded on the principle that architecture is the thoughtful synthesis of concepts, materials and their assembly. Our work is inspired by a commitment to research as a basis for the design process. This knowledge, embodied by form, structure and light, defines spaces that transform our daily experience and influence the way we live. We approach each project as an explora

tion that is technically innovative and challenges assumed conventions. Sustainability and site specificity are integral to the practice, informing spatial relationships and building systems. We engage in an inclusive process, working with our clients and the community to discover and realize the potential in every program. Architecture, as defined by the ancients, is the mother of all arts. We believe in the intrinsic relationship of this common historic origin, and, for this reason, we have always curated a fine art gallery. We use this space to exhibit the work of emerging artists, those whose work deserves a larger audience. We pursue this exercise to promote the arts, to refine our critical eyes and to engage in the dialogue around contemporary art and culture. This, in turn, deepens our approach to our work as architects.

Framing is nearly finished at our new project in Burlingame. This net-zero home will feature 3300 square feet of living space in a 4 bedroom residence with associated ADU.  The entire home will be powered by on site solar with power wall storage and a utility intertie for prolonged inclement weather.  We have an enhanced envelope design to reduce the system loads, including sub slab insulation, rainscreen walls and a super-insulated  roof assembly. The total build includes a pool and spa, the first time we’ve worked with electrical power to heat this amount of water.  Looking forward to completion in summer 2024.

Mid-century Modernized

Work progresses at our project in Marin County. The original home occupies a hilltop site with 360 degree views. As a portion of our work to renovate and modernize the structure, we’ve removed the ceilings. This allows us to completely update the wiring, lighting, audio visual, window shades and insulation systems.

Space is defined by more than walls and floors, it’s all in the details!
