This week we’re highlighting “Holding Field” (2024) by Sandra Kelch. Created with acrylic paint, ink, and collaged paper, the piece explores abstract, constructed spaces inspired by both real and imagined environments. Through layered textures, converging forms, and open voids, Kelch turns composition into a metaphor for place, capturing complexity, movement, and the feeling of space itself. By blending traditional print methods with digital techniques, she pushes the dimensional possibilities of the surface and invites viewers to navigate a landscape that is both physical and intangible. ✨

Focus Friday!!!!
Step into the layered history of Giovanni Battista Piranesi’s View of the Interior of S. Costanza. Originally built as a mausoleum for Constantina, daughter of Constantine the Great, the space has transformed across centuries.
Once mistaken for a temple to Bacchus, its story blends myth, memory, and devotion reminding us how meaning shifts over time.

Don’t miss Priyanka D’Souza’s Ann Getty Institute Introductory Artist Talk, Wednesday, February 4th from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM!

Priyanka D’Souza (she/her) is a visual artist, writer, and researcher who explores rest, queerness, and disability as methodologies for institutional and infrastructural critique. While in residency at USF, she plans to work on a new project entitled SpinelessSpeak, in which she explores the limits of machine-created arts and critically considers what it means to speak. D’Souza holds a newly-minted MFA in Art Practice from UC Berkeley (2025) and an MA in Arts and Aesthetics from JNU, Delhi (2021) specializing in medieval and early modern Islamic art.

This event is free and open to the public.
