Hillport Gallery Hillport Gallery Mr. The house was built in 1911, for the Cape Cod Canal Chief Engineer William Barclay Parsons. It is a Gustav Stickley designed house.

Doug Amidon, a professional woodcarver, with over 49 years of experience announces the opening of Hillport Gallery, Route 6A, Sandwich MA in mid-July. Amidon purchased the house in 2015 with the idea of opening a larger Gallery to house his Folk Art and to offer space to other area artisans to display their work. ts and Crafts custom of naming a house. Amidon, a former school teacher in Bourne and Wareham, left the profession in 1967, to concentrate on carving. his work adorns boats, homes, and businesses far and wide, a testament to his skill in carving wood. His tools are a combination of old and new but he prefers the old tools saying "old tools are more elegant". Amidon's work was recently showcased on WCVB TV's Chronicle, on Wednesday, May 18th 2016 which caused a flurry of phone calls from interested television viewers. The Fall and Holiday Hours are 10am to 3pm Friday and Saturday - and Sunday Noon to 5pm - Any Other Time by Welcomed Appointment. The Gallery will ship Nationwide. The Gallery will close for the Winter Season on December 23rd, 2017 and Re-Open for the 2018 Season on April 5th, 2018.
