The Santa Barbara Open Studios tour is next weekend. The entire Corridan Gallery will be Karen Fedderson's Studio from now until Mid October. Karen just finished this painting, "Early Evening in the Valley" to be featured in the show. Where is it? Hint: it is not the San Fernando Valley. Hope to see you next weekend !!

"Wading with Egrets" - 36"x48" - Karen Fedderson
West of Butterfly Beach in Santa Barbara. This wonderful painting has waited for the right person here at Corridan Gallery for over two years. The collector who bought it lost their home in the Palisades fire. The paintings they owned by Karen were lost, tragically, along with all their other belongings, a lifetime of memories in physical form. They are rebuilding their household and art collection while their home is being rebuilt. I hope this piece can bring them some joy amidst their sad loss.

This is the first day of Summer, so "La Primavera - The Early Spring" should technically be over. But, we don't want to let these lovely paintings go just yet. So we are keeping the work of Cheryl Ambrecht, Sarah Carr, Elliott Ciampi and especially James-Paul Brown on display for a while. Come and enjoy the art and maybe be brave and buy a piece. James-Paul Brown's "Radiant Frida" - Of the many protraits James did of Frida Kahlo, this one is by far the most fantastic. In the true meaning of 'Fantastic' she is glowing under a full Moon, surrounded by Butterflies and Bees, while floating in, or emerginf from a Lotus Pond. Some of the Butteflies and Bees are floating to the surface in underwater bubbles. The painting is decorated with sequins and glitter; all part of the late James-Paul Brown's Joyful (and Imaginary) Vision.

Remembering our friend James-Paul Brown on this May-Gray Spring day. Whenever he came into the Gallery he brought light, love and color into the place. I'm looking at this painting "Lilies in a Blue Vase" and James's magic is working.
