Rohmer Gallery is pleased to present Invasive Species, a group exhibition curated by Jill Benson for Upstate Art Weekend 2026. Featuring work by Elodie Blanchard, Kathie Halfin, Kristin Middleton, Tracy Phillips, Secret Project Robot, and Greg Slick, the exhibition explores imagined ecologies shaped by mutation, adaptation, and transformation through painting, sculpture, installation, and fiber art.

Rooted in the natural world yet transformed through fantasy and speculation, Invasive Species considers climate change as an undercurrent while offering visions of resilience, regeneration, and coexistence. Curated by Benson as her fifth exhibition for Upstate Art Weekend, the show continues her exploration of contemporary practices within site-specific and community-oriented spaces.

Invasive Species is on view June 25 through August 23, 2026.

Join us for the opening reception Friday, June 26, 5–7 PM. Meet the artists, enjoy refreshments and live music by J.C. Hopkins.

The following evening after our reception, enjoy live music by The Motherwells and Georgia Marshall. Dancing and refreshments included.

What grows after collapse?

Invasive Species imagines a future where nature mutates, adapts, and becomes luminous in unfamiliar ways. Through painting, sculpture, installation, and fiber art, the artists in this exhibition transform the language of the natural world into something surreal, strange, and full of possibility.

Presented for Upstate Art Weekend 2026 at Rohmer Gallery in Saugerties and curated by Jill Benson.

Part of Huang’s ongoing series of portraits of Hudson Valley sitters, The Oyster Shucker captures the quiet complexity that unfolds between painter and model over months of conversation and observation. Working from life in her Kingston studio, Huang creates paintings that are as much about perception, vulnerability, and human connection as they are about likeness.

Precious Eboigbodin’s The Resilient Beauty II — a monumental equestrian sculpture constructed entirely from reclaimed stainless-steel utensils — now on view at the Rohmer Annex in Saugerties.

Created during a residency at Rohmer Gallery, the work reflects themes of resilience, transformation, and endurance through one of humanity’s oldest and most enduring companions: the horse.
