Once the band made the decision that this was to be the front of their new album cover, the art department at Columbia Records reduced the masthead “Cheap Thrills” and also “Big Brother & Holding Co.” and moved both to the right in order to make way for the Columbia record label.
When Wildwood Serigraphs published the 250 print serigraph edition (signed, dated and numbered by Crumb) in 1997, they decided to eliminate the Columbia label and restore the artwork as it originally appeared. This is what the serigraph–and subsequent giclée edition–looks like.
