It marked the end of an era for the tiny fishing community tucked quietly away on the banks of the Moon River just south of Savannah, Georgia. For nearly one hundred years, Pin Point was isolated and self-sustained, a Gullah/Geechee enclave founded by first-generation freedmen where family, religion, and work were deeply connected to the water. n Point Heritage Museum, operated by Coastal Heritage Society, celebrating the life, work, and history of this Gullah/Geechee community that calls Pin Point home.

The museum on the banks of Moon River Marsh will have a special open day in celebration of Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th, 10am-2pm.

Pin Point Heritage Museum regular hours are Thursday-Saturday, 9am-4pm.

• Special Memorial Day opening Monday, May 25th: 10am-2pm
• Regular hours Thursday-Saturday: 9am-4pm

Old Fort Jackson on the Savannah River
• Open daily 9am-4pm
• On Memorial Day, May 25th, experience living history with soldiers portraying multiple eras from the fort’s past and catch the firing of the Great Gun at noon to commemorate Memorial Day

Savannah Children's Museum
• Saturday-Sunday, May 23rd–24th: Open 9am-3pm
• Memorial Day Monday, May 25th: Open 9am–3pm
• NEW indoor STEAM Center open daily 9am-3pm

Georgia State Railroad Museum
• Open daily 9am-4pm, including Memorial Day Monday, May 25th
• Train rides Wednesdays–Sundays. Train rides will also be offered on Memorial Day, Monday May 25th in honor of the holiday.

Savannah History Museum

Step into history at Pin Point Heritage Museum on the banks of Moon River, just outside Savannah.
