“Roxanna Reese” - famous actor/comedian who played the hilarious role of the drunk woman on “Martin” pictured with “Kenneth L. Roberson,” an American Choreographer and dancer best known for work on Avenue. I’ve known Roxanna for a little over (2) years and she never revealed to me her celebrity status. She booked coming to Sabreee’s Gullah that she would be bringing 40-50 friends (unbeknownst all were celebrities) like - “Clare’ Bathe’ -dance captain and vocal captain in Lena Horne: “The Lady & Her Music.” Her daughter - “Michelle Bathe’ -actress/French singer and Michelle’s husband - “Sterling K. Brown “- Emmy and Golden Globe Winning actor, producer and podcast host were some of the celebrities who visited Sabreee’s Gullah on July 4th weekend. Thank all of you for your Support and Love! If you haven’t been to Daufuskie Island, man are you missing out on Culture and Beauty! During the Gullah Festival, my daughter is weaving a “Traditional Gullah Quilt.” In this process, colorful scrap pieces of fabrics are interwoven into burlap with a nail. This is a very tedious, but rewarding Gullah art form. This is Dennis, owner and operator of the “Seebrof Forbes Cultural Arts Center,” which is located in Kensington, Maryland. This Phenomenal facility has (3) floors and is the only Cultural Black owned facility within the area! I’m ready for this! Nothing takes the heat off of summer like some juicy, cool watermelon. In the Gullah Culture, this is watermelon season and my family planted hundreds of acres of it every year. Watermelon is loaded with tons of medicinal properties - antioxidant, contains vitamin c, wards off diseases, reduces inflammation, keeps you hydrated, great for your digestive track, good for your skin, pumps up your muscles, reduces weight, improves your vision, and much more… You better grab one or two, but make sure it’s from a farmer’s market… so much fresher! 🍉 www.sabreesgallery.com history blog arts
