We are sure you've heard, but due to inclement weather,, today's May Day, ceremony was canceled.

It was very sad to share the news with everyone. However, we tried to make the best of the situation. Thank you to Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church for ensuring all of the dancers and band students still enjoyed cookies. And, thank you to SCAD SERVE for giving us special treats for our JROTC and PA students

Ms Ayela, Mr. Smith and Ms. Tara were able to visit the May Day Queen, the May Day King, and their respective courts, at their schools. We brought them their flowers, their crowns, and all the glory that comes from being given this honor.

We would like to present Queen JoJo of Esther F. Garrison School for the Arts and King Major of Carrie E. Gould Elementary School. Both students were crowned by their principals, acting on behalf of Dr. Watts, our Superintendent. Cheers and hugs were enjoyed by all! The May Day spirit endures.

Join us in celebrating our Queen, King and all of the wonderful students who worked hard for this event.

We are fortunate to continue our partnership with the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators -Southern Breeze division on the exhibition Process to Print. Massie has been allowed to tour this delightful display to schools so even more students can learn how illustrators become inspired when they are given an author's work.

The media centes at Bloomingdale Elementary School and Hodge Elementary School have graciously allowed us to install the panels. Paired with the books in the exhibition, and other books by the illustrators, pulled from each school's library, this exhibition will spark imaginations and encourage reading.

We had a very active and festive weekend at Massie during our NOGS Tour of Hidden Gardens event, brilliantly organized by the Garden Club of Savannah. Massie hosted more than one thousand guests in our enchanting courtyard garden where the theme revolved around our annual Massie May Day celebration and Leopold's Ice Cream! We were also able to compliment this event with some sold out walking tours focusing on the iconic architectural and landscaping achievements of John Norris and Clermont Lee. Guests were guided through downtown Savannah and immersed directly into the history these great artists contributed to our city, the Jewel of the South!

In the early 1970s, Savannah's leaders started taking greater action in planning for the Revitalization of River Street. In 1973, architects Eric Meyerhoff and Bob Gunn (Gunn & Meyerhoff A.I.A.) developed this plan for River Street's redevelopment. It's quite a bit different than what we see today. What do you think?
