Pioneer Christmas 2025 was cold & breezy but we had a great time with the tough friends who showed up! Many thanks to Matt Novak for cleaning, decorating and making the delicious cookies! He made my job easy!
Sometimes we get so used to the wind, we don't even notice the sound, but the top video captures it well!
I love the second video with the bell slowly swaying in the wind. What tough people our ancestors were, and how much we have to be grateful for!! Merry Christmas everyone!

Two weeks ago, we were visited by some of the schools longtime friends from the past. Vic Williams lead the charge in 1998-1999 to save the school and Chad and Suzanne Griffith owners of the school at the time, donated it to be restored. Vic and the Lions Club did the hard work of clearing out years of dirt , pulling down all the falling ceiling and walls and had a new roof installed.

Unfortunetly, when Vic moved, the project stopped, the school was boarded up and the school was turned back to the Griffiths.

I always tell people, if it hadn't been for those early efforts, we wouldn't of had a school to restore. By putting on the roof, it was protected and saved until we could pick up the project 20 years later!

Vic brought pictures from those early days and lots of memories!

Thanks again to all who helped to save this old treasure!

Thanks to the generous donations of the Donald Grumbein Estate and Dean Ryan and the Scott City Sales Tax Committee, the school is looking great!

Our friend Ed Opatril came back from Colorado to install and paint the siding and Reed Frolish with Ready Roofer installed the new roof!

We plan to have the school open Saturday afternoon, July 26 during the All School Reunion, so please make plans to stop in and check it out!

Thanks again to all of you for your generous contributions and for your help in restoring this historic treasure!

Thanks to all our friends who stopped by for a visit at our Christmas Open House Sunday.
It was a beautiful day in the 60’s and we enjoyed all the people who came by!

One extra special guest was a 95 year young lady who taught at a one room school house just like ours in Wichita County! It was very touching to hear her reminisce about those days.πŸ’™

We enjoyed the delicious cookies Matt Novak supplied and everyone got a look at our new roof!

Have a blessed Christmas!πŸŽ„

Thank you to all who came to our Christmas Open House! We had a great time and were thrilled with all the people who came out!

Our new sign is up and we want to thank the schools long time supporters, Chad & Suzanne Griffith for getting the post holes dug and Ed Opitril for installing it! Thanks to Sherry Novak for helping Matt, Jim & I clean to!

The sign is two sided and tells the history of the school with lots of pictures. Thank you Stephanie Fisher for helping to design the sign-we love it!

Many thanks to everyone that has supported our efforts to restore this old treasure. It’s amazing that it's been 81 years since the last students walked out the doors!

Great news!! Our friend Ed Opitril just finished the fence and gates at the school! We've been on hold with all the covid shortages but it's finally up and looking great!
Our only regret is Patti Strickler, who recently passed away, isn't here to see it. Patti and Vince graciously donated the school and are so appreciated!
Drive by and check it out!
