A VR Tour of The Scottsboro Boys Museum through the lens of our new Meta Glasses!

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association for gifting the Scottsboro Boys Museum a pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses as part of their efforts to make tourism more accessible throughout North Alabama.

This innovative technology will help create a more inclusive experience for our visitors by assisting with exhibit narration and description for guests with impaired vision, helping ensure these important stories can be experienced by more members of our community.

This meaningful step forward in expanding museum accessibility is a shared commitment to engage everyone in meaningful history like The Scottsboro Boys case.

Come visit us this summer to experience in person!

Join us Juneteenth as we reflect and celebrate together as a community!

We’ll begin the day with the presentation of the Sheila Washington Award, honoring an individual whose commitment to social justice has made a meaningful impact within our community. We’ll then hear from our special guest speaker, Doug Jones, as he reflects on pivotal civil rights cases, including his prosecution of those responsible for the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing.

Following this time of remembrance and reflection, we’ll come together in celebration with food, live music, fun activities, and local vendors and organizations sharing their work throughout our community.

This FREE EVENT is an opportunity to honor the past, celebrate progress, and gather in the spirit of unity as we continue building toward a more thoughtful future. We encourage everyone to come out and be part of this special day. Stay connected for more information through our socials via Linkedin, Facebook, TikTok and our website!

Thank you to everyone who gathered with us as we welcomed a new chapter at Saturday’s Groundbreaking Ceremony 🌿

Seeing community members, descendants connected to this history, local leaders, and dedicated volunteers standing together in one space is a powerful reminder of why this work matters. These stories continue to bring people together not to remain in the past, but to better understand the present and thoughtfully shape the future.

We are deeply grateful to Liberty Cafe for providing breakfast for our guests, and to every volunteer, supporter, and attendee whose presence made the morning feel so meaningful. Your encouragement and belief in this vision continue to move it forward.

As construction begins on our Outdoor Expansion Project, we invite you to continue following along with us on all our platforms to keep updated with progress

As part of our Outdoor Expansion Project, the Scottsboro Boys Museum is cultivating the Ada Wright Memorial Garden.

Within the garden, nine carefully chosen flowers have been dedicated to the nine boys connected to the Scottsboro arrests: Clarence Norris, Haywood Patterson, Andy Wright, Roy Wright, Ozie Powell, Willie Roberson, Olen Montgomery, Charlie Weems, and Eugene Williams. Each planting carries its own symbolism, thoughtfully paired to reflect elements of identity, memory, resilience, and lived experience.

Together, these flowers create more than a landscape. They form a living tribute, honoring individual lives while reminding us of the lasting connections forged through history.

Honoring the mothers whose love, strength, and advocacy shaped this history🌿

The mothers connected to the Scottsboro case carried strength, persistence, and unwavering love in the face of injustice. They traveled, spoke out, organized, and refused to let their sons’ stories be forgotten.

This spirit of advocacy and devotion lives on through the Ada Wright Memorial Garden, a space that will be rooted in remembrance, resilience, and care. Through it, we honor those mothers and the enduring love that helped sustain hope through unimaginable circumstances.
