What a wonderful Saturday at the Scott County Heritage Museum’s Barn Sale & Farmers Market! 🐐🌽🐓

Visitors enjoyed shopping local vendors, fresh produce, handmade goods, and spending time with some very special animal guests at our petting zoo. Favorites included a 42-year-old tortoise, a five-week-old baby llama, donkeys, goats, a friendly calf, chickens that loved to “chat,” and a talkative turkey who definitely had plenty to say! 🦙🐢🐄

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our local farmers, artisans, and museum. We love seeing our community come together each week!

Missed this Saturday? There’s still plenty of time to join the fun! The Barn Sale & Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Scott County Heritage Museum through September. Bring your family, shop local, meet friendly faces, and discover something new each week!

Join us on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 PM at the Scott County Heritage Center & Museum for a hands-on beginner-friendly workshop led by Creative Memories Consultant Paulette Vincent.

Participants will create a simple two-page scrapbook layout to take home while learning scrapbooking basics, layout techniques, and creative memory preservation tips.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance dedicated to the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in military service. The holiday traces its roots to the years following the Civil War, when communities across the country gathered to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. Originally known as Decoration Day, it became a federal holiday in 1971 and continues to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

As we observe Memorial Day, we encourage our community to reflect on the lives, service, and history that shaped our country and our local communities.

History lives on through education, preservation, and storytelling. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our final Brown Bag Lunch series of season! 🍽✨

We had a wonderful time learning the history of Decoration Day (the original Memorial Day) and snacking on sweet desserts and drinks.

That's a wrap! Thank you to our actor, Daniel P. Russel, and everyone who joined us for our history dinner last night. 🎩🇺🇸

We had a wonderful time experiencing good food (shoutout Summer Graham of the Scottsburg Bistro on the Square) and even better company while we traveled back in time with a live re-enactment of Abraham Lincoln. 🕰
