Hello from Paper Boat Launch Studio ✨

It’s been a while since we last posted here, but the studio has been very much alive — with new artists, new work, and lots happening behind the scenes.

We’re excited to start sharing again and re-introducing the artists who make up the studio today.

Perfect timing too, because tomorrow is Equinox Studios' Open Studios and we’ll be opening our doors again after a little break.

Come hang out, catch up with us, and see what everyone’s been working on lately. More studio updates and artist introductions coming soon 👀

We've got a rare space available in our little artist collective! Paper Boat Launch is a smaller group studio within the larger Equinox Arts Area.

Our thriving community is currently made up of nine visual artists representing a broad range of interests and styles, from large-format abstract pieces to plein air and imaginative realism. What’s more important though is that we’re a quiet, friendly, and respectful bunch; happy to chat during breaks, offer constructive feedback (if asked), or discuss art philosophy over a beer, but otherwise keep a calm and peaceful work environment.

Each second Saturday of every month we hold open studios for the local Art Walk where we get lots of foot traffic, along with participating in two massive block parties each year (August's "Very Open House" and December's Equinox Party) which draw crowds in the thousands.

As for the space itself, it is approximately 8'4" x 11'4" with a massive 25+ ft ceiling, a large display wall, and even more collective display options.

Rent is $330/month + utilities (currently $15/mo) and comes with free (but admittedly slow) wifi shared with the greater Equinox Arts area. High-speed internet for an additional $10/mo is also available, if needed. If you have a friend you would like to share the space with, co-signing is a possible too. Available immediately, pro-rated to your move-in date.

If you would like to schedule an appointment to see the space, please email us at: [email protected]

Did you know Cory teaches? He did this black and white gouache portrait as a demo for a student.

Cory was trying to show two different approaches within the same painting, playing around with keeping it tight around the face and loosening up as he worked his way down the beard, even leaving parts of it unfinished.

What PBL artist, Rachael, had to say about these two wonderful pieces:

These two paintings of my grandmother 'Bollo' have found a beautful new home and I am still pinching myself! I'm so happy they will stay together.

'dream reality'
'it's all history, now'

They are both oil on canvas mounted to panel, with resin and framed in a flat frame. 24x18"

They were an homage to my grandmother, based on a black and white photo of her from the 1950s. She's merged with two of my other paintings in the show. She was a great believe in following your dreams!
