SPACE WANTED: My nonprofit, World's Fair Historical Society, www.crystalpalace51.org, has been in search of space for a museum and we are renewing our call for that or funding to get it. We are not limited to Seattle and have actually looked at the New York City area a lot as well as any city with a world's fair history. Interest by New Yorkers for a museum is very high as they have such a rich history in it. America's first world's fair was held in Manhattan in 1853 at what is now Bryant Park, and they had two huge ones after that, in 1939-1940 then again, held in the same location, Flushing Meadows Park in Queens, they had one in 1964-1965. There is the possibility of increasing our collection if we relocated to NY that would come from New Yorkers. We continue to get donations of collections with not enough space to display most of it. Donated space or affordable space, live/work space for me to move the nonprofit to, or funding, is what I am looking for.

April 21, 2012 was the 50th birthday of the Seattle Space Needle, and here was one person all dressed up for it.

Important information for all of our visitors: Our website is currently down for about a week as we transfer to a new hosting service. This is a big step for us, as we found a hosting service that does it for nonprofits for free, saving us big bucks.

In addition, one of our members, Paul Van Dort, who has his own website on the 1939 New York World's Fair, http://www.1939nyworldsfair.com/, builds websites and will be helping us get ours up and better than ever.

Paul has a page and has also published a book on photos from the fair, we highly recommend visiting his site.
