Spotlight in glass 🔎

Winter Brilliance. This piece is a joyful expression of both its namesake season and Chihuly's desire to present his work in unexpected and dramatic ways. The ice-like forms were developed in 1996 for Chihuly's first permenant outdoor installation- "Icicle Creek Chandelier" in Leavenworth Washington.

Chihuly's "Baskets" series, marked a turning point in which he freed himself from the tradition of symmetry in glassblowing. This freedom from formal composition constraints remains a central aspect of Chihuly's work, for which he is highly recognized.

Spotlight in Glass 🔍

In the Macchia series, Chihuly layered colors in unexpected ways: one on the inside, a cloud of white in the middle, and a bold hue on the outside.

“I loved the ones that seemed to make the least amount of sense… like the really crazy ones—purple and chartreuse.” – Dale Chihuly
