Putting a few finishing touches on the exhibition. Back to School opens today!

Join us for Discontinuity, the first exhibition at Traver Gallery by internationally renowned French sculptor Gabrielle Wambaugh. Featuring ceramics and mixed media, the exhibition brings together texture, color, repetition, and negative space.

Preston Singletary’s Tossed in the Surf brings Raven to Venice for Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light.

For Singletary, glass has become a means of carrying Tlingit stories and visual language forward. His blown and sand-carved sculptures draw from traditional formline design while moving beyond the materials in which these designs have historically appeared.

In Tossed in the Surf, Raven finds himself caught in unpredictable tides, navigating the complexities of the contemporary world. Singletary has increasingly looked to Raven stories as a way to consider the present, connecting ancestral narratives with issues facing Indigenous communities today.

We’re proud to have Tossed in the Surf representing Preston’s work at Homo Faber in Venice this September.

Dante Marioni’s Red Maze is currently on view in Venice as part of Homo Faber 2026: An Island of Light.

Created in 2018, Red Maze reflects Marioni’s longstanding interest in ancient Greek and Etruscan vessel forms. Using traditional Venetian glassblowing techniques, he transforms these historical references through scale, proportion, pattern, and color, creating a distinctly contemporary work.

Marioni began working with glass as a teenager after visiting Pilchuck Glass School with his father. He later trained with Venetian master glassblower Lino Tagliapietra, developing the technical foundation that continues to shape his practice today.

We’re pleased to see Red Maze included in this international celebration of contemporary craft.

Traver Gallery is pleased to present Discontinuity, the first exhibition at the gallery by internationally renowned French sculptor Gabrielle Wambaugh.

Working across ceramics, textiles, drawing, and mixed media, Wambaugh creates layered forms that invite close looking and resist a single interpretation. Many of the works grew from her recent residency at Seattle University, supported by the Pigott Family Endowment for the Arts.

We had a nice visit to Nancy Callan’s studio to hand-select works for “Back to School”. This upcoming feature opens with a reception on Sat. Sept. 5 from 3–5.

We spent time looking through new sculptures and even watched Nancy hand sign the work before we packed up the car and brought a few of the piece back to the gallery.

We’re excited to see it all come together.

Weight and lightness meet in Gabrielle Wambaugh’s sculptural forms. Wambaugh uses these opposing qualities to create tension between what a material is and how it appears. Dense forms seem weightless. Fragile surfaces take on a physical presence. The figure becomes part pedestal, part participant, carrying forms that appear ready to shift or float away.

This ongoing investigation of material, movement, and perception informs Wambaugh’s upcoming solo exhibition, Discontinuity, opening September 5 at Traver Gallery.

We look forward to presenting her work at Traver Gallery this fall.

Coming this September, a solo exhibition by internationally renowned French sculptor Gabrielle Wambaugh. These images from past exhibitions introduce the ideas and visual language that have shaped her practice.

Wambaugh pushes ceramic sculpture into unexpected territory. Bodies become supports. Hard surfaces appear soft, folded, or worn. Familiar objects shift into unfamiliar forms. Across her sculptures and installations, she uses fragmentation, repetition, and changes in scale to challenge how we understand an object and the space surrounding it.

Wambaugh’s work has been presented at museums and art institutions throughout Europe, the United States, and Asia, is a recipient of the Altadis Prize for Sculpture, and has completed research residencies at the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres and the European Ceramic Work Centre.

We look forward to and presenting her work at Traver Gallery this fall.
