"I'm really feeling the energy of this piece today. This work came from a place of intense emotion, not feeling like I've done good enough and entirely, just a lack of confidence. This piece was not coming out how I wanted. How could it? I didn't even know how I wanted it to come out, so right there, I set myself up for failure. Forcing myself to continue on, I slashed and gashed and even crumpled it all up at one point! Ripe and ready to be thrown away.
It's a whole world, here, and what pushed me forward towards feeling any sort of positivity around this was the fortune I found in my room. "Your biggest strength is your ability to persist in the face of adversity." Laughing to myself, since that simple statement was the entire experience. behind this piece. I glued the bits in and decided I liked it, even loved it, for its dimensional qualities are something completely unique to this piece.
This work holds torment, struggle, inner demons, and the strength and ability to overcome them all!!!"
