At our 8am the Pony Express Members exchanged mochilla & rider at Grubbs Well Pony Express Station in Nevada.
Still carrying the 1,000 pieces of mail that was carried by our Kansas/Nemaha Pony Express 7 days ago through Seneca, Kansas.
(1360 gps miles from Seneca)
Grubbs Well Pony Express was built later in 1861 as an added stop for the grueling journey. The station was a teepee like structure of rough poles covered by rushes & grass.
There was fresh milk from a rare cow kept by the station attendant.
There was a 10'foot deep well & was open to anyone who could haul or stand the harsh alkaline water.
