🪺 We’re expecting!
The story of a determined mama bird…
One day at the studio, a fun group of ladies came to paint some birds.
While we painted, we noticed a bird flying to and from the wreath on the front door. She was building a nest. I stopped to take down what she’d assembled, and removed the nest from the door.
It may be a safe place from other creatures, but not with humans coming and going regularly through the front door.
It snowed. A week later we had Airbnb guests coming for the weekend. The nestless wreath was returned to the door.
After the weekend, I was turning the studio over for our next guests. There, on the top of the wreath, was a brand new nest.
Again I took down the nest, sitting it on the window sill nearby.
After those guests checked out, I was back to clean again.
There was a third nest, so neatly put together…but this time…there was one egg.
Hmm. So I moved the wreath about 3 feet over, to a nail on the porch wall. I placed the other nest there too, so that she might have options. 😆
The next time I checked there were two eggs, and new guests were checking in.
Yesterday, I was back to clean…5 eggs! 5 babies on their way to the front porch studio!
I’m happy mama bird found her babies, and that they are all safe on the porch.
Not only is she determined, she’s also crafty. She has found and used my thread scraps for all three nests. Look closely to see.
