Wheatlands Plantation was established in 1791 by Timothy Chandler and his son John. Starting at Rocky Springs and growing to almost 5,000 acres, Wheatlands became the largest Plantation in East Tennessee. Wheatlands is a Federal home build around 1825 for John Chandler by William Morgan who started the anti-mason movement in America. Noted for the vast wheat crops grown on the plantation the first

distillery in Tennessee was built at the plantation making Wheat Whiskey. The Battle of Boyds creek and Civil War occupation adds to the uniqueness the this Once grand Lady of the South. Still standing in her glory with the original smoke house, summer kitchen and loom house at her side. Also on the grounds is the slave grave yard and the Indian burials of the Boyds Creek Battle. Wheatlands is rich and proud in history not only of Tennessee but to the nation, with the families first members arriving in Jamestown, VA in 1609!
