🦫Free Weekend of Programs at the Museum this Labor Day Weekend!🪵

Beaver was the name of the game in North America from 1750-1840, and Wisconsin had them!

It’s easy to forget how important our location was to the international fur trade. That era changed Wisconsin food pathways, racial and cultural make-up, and our natural resources.

Sheboygan County Museum hosts reenactors, speakers, hands-on activities, and more at the annual Plank Road Rendezvous to help visitors step into the the truly unfathomable Fur Trade Era.

Plank Road Rendezvous will take place Friday–Saturday September 4-5, 10:00am-5:00pm, and Sunday September 6, 10:00am-1:00pm.

🎉🎉100 Years is something to celebrate 🎉🎉

Rocky Knoll Health Care Center is celebrating a Centennial milestone. From the early days of open-air sun porches and tuberculosis treatment to today's modern facility providing short and long-term care, the history of Rocky Knoll is a story of a century of care for Sheboygan County and beyond.

We look forward to joining Rocky Knoll for the celebration and hope to see you there.

It's a wonderful life!

The Vollrath Bowl Lantern Parade has always been good at helping children and adults alike reflect on the rich life we share in the Sheboygan community. From 1935 as a Sheboygan Community Recreation Department playground program to 2026 as a historical unifier with Sheboygan County Museum, we bond over time shared together.

See SCM's large lantern at the Museum throughout September, stop by for the FREE Plank Road Rendezvous 2026 over Labor Day Weekend, and soak up a little more summer with us!

💡This lightbulb maze burned out today!

📍 This NAPP Aero Map Film Test lit a false color infrared (FCIR) aerial photo series compiled by Sheboygan’s own Aero-Metric Inc in 1992.

🪾Rather than capturing colors according to the naked eye, FCIR uses color to show live vegetation (in red) versus dying (pink) or dead (green or tan) vegetation. Water appears blue with very dark areas indicating clean water and pale areas signaling high sediment levels.

🗺️ We keep this film test lit whenever the Museum is open to bring the object to life for our visitors! You can interpret the maps immediately!

It was fun to see what was providing the light all these years and, don’t worry, we have a plan so that when you visit us, it will be lit once again!
