The Shippensburg Station A multi-use event space at the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail trailhead in historic Shippensburg, PA. Home of the Cumberland Valley Railroad Museum.

Shippensburg Station is a multi-use event and performance space that will be taking shape over the coming year at the new Cumberland Valley Rail-Trail trailhead at the corner of Fort and Earl Streets in historic Shippensburg, PA. Shippensburg Township and the Shippensburg Rotary Club have jointly funded a comfort station that is now open. In addition to a Pennsylvania Railroad signal, and other ra

ilroad artifacts that will be on public display, the centerpiece of the site will be a restored 1956 railroad boxcar that once carried freight on the local line for the Penn Central railroad. The boxcar was moved to the site in early October and will be restored over the fall and winter. A museum is under development for the interior of the boxcar, which will be connected to the rail trail by a deck that will serve as a stage for musical and other performances. The goal is to have the site completed by mid-April 2018 in time for a planned TrailFest featuring art exhibits, bands, local wine, beer and cider and series of races on the trail. The sun is shining and we’re getting ready for Ship First Fridays - May. There is a 20% chance of a passing shower tonight, but a 100% chance of free live music paired with delicious food truck fare and cold beer, wine and cider. Come join your neighbors for dinner!

Tonight was great - it was fun seeing so many people enjoying a perfect evening. Want more of that? Saturday is TrailFest, and while it’s known for the foot races and hiking/biking, there’s also food trucks, a beer garden and live music - all the things you love about Ship First Fridays.
