Shohola Railroad & Historical Society Shohola Caboose Museum Members are encouraged to bring memorabilia for display and discussion, which coincide with evening’s program.

The Shohola Railroad and Historical Society, popularly know as “The Caboose Group” was formed March 19, 1991 for the specific purpose of preserving and maintaining the Shohola Caboose. When the group’s constitution was completed in October of that year, its goal had been expanded to include the preservation of local history and railroad history, especially as it relates to the Shohola area. ohola Railroad and Historical Society meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at seven o’clock PM in the Shohola Township Municipal Building, 159 Twin Lakes Road. The free program is held before the meetings begin. The public and new members are always welcome to attend. For nearly 300 years people have crossed the Delaware River at the location of the Dingmans Bridge, first by ferry and later by bridge.
On Wednesday, September 2, at 7:00 pm the Shohola Railroad and Historical Society will present the captivating history of the Dingmans Bridge and the Ferry service that preceded it. The discussion led by Carol Phillips will provide a glimpse into the challenges faced by those who have operated this private crossing since the 1700’s.
Carol has worked for Dingmans Choice and Delaware River Bridge Co. for 30 years and she enjoys sharing the history of the privately owned bridge.
Please join us at 7:00 pm and afterwards for refreshments. We hold our business meeting after the break.

The History of Shohola and the creation of the Shohola Railroad and Historical Society are on full display in our Museum. Join us on August 5 for a free guided museum tour. It’s at 7:00 pm at the Shohola Township Municipal Building located at 153 Twin Lakes Road.
At the conclusion of the tour enjoy refreshments and if you wish attend the monthly meeting of the Shohola Railroad and Historical Society.

The Shohola Railroad and Historical Society is hosting a presentation, tonight, June 3, at 7 pm at the Shohola Township Building on Twin Lakes Road. Dennis Lee, a NY Film Producer will be our speaker. The topic is Old Dingmans Ferry before the intrusion of Tocks Island. Full screen pictures will bring the story to life. Also included is the story of Chief Thundercloud, aka Dominick Plante, a Blackfoot Indian Scout, Pony Express Rider, and a member of Buffalo Bills Show. He was the model for the US Nickel as well as the Five Dollar Gold Piece.
He is buried in Dingmans Ferry.
Following the presentation and light refreshments we will hold our monthly meeting which you are welcome to attend.

Shohola Railroad and Historical Society and Author David Pierce would like to invite you to attend our presentation on Wednesday, May 6 at 7 PM. We will be meeting at the Shohola Township Municipal Building located at 159 Twin Lakes Road in Shohola, PA.
We will be holding a discussion about the ill-fated Tocks island Dam.
Thousands lost their homes, farms, camps, and businesses to forced government acquisition, but mass opposition defeated the dam and resulted in today’s Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
Please join us for a free presentation based on the authors book…
“Damned If You Do”. Refreshments following. You are also invited to attend our “Caboose Group” meeting after the program.
