Lehigh Valley Railroad Historical Society page of the Lehigh Valley Railroad Historical Society We formerly housed our display and archives at the Manchester Village Hall from 1995 to 2001.

The Lehigh Valley Railroad Historical Society was chartered under the New York State Department of Education in 1996 to preserve the history, artifacts, and memories of the Lehigh Valley Railroad. Our membership is made up of former LVRR employees, their families, railfans, model railroaders, and others, all with the common interest: the old Lehigh Valley Railroad. Since our beginnings, we have ac

cumulated over 3,000 items, photographs, and related paperwork in our archives. Due to our limited space, we could only display a very small part of our large collection. In October of 2001, we acquired the former New York Central Railroad Freight Depot at 8 East High Street in Shortsville, New York. This historic building is used as the Society's museum and meeting place. The former freight depot is also used as the departure and arrival point for the Society's passenger train excursions on the Finger Lakes Railway. The Lehigh Valley Railroad Historical Society Station Museum is housed inside a wooden New York Central Railroad freight station located along the old "Auburn Road" line in Shortsville, New York. The freight station was built around 1900 and was used as a church and a machine shop before the Society purchased it in October 2001. Many volunteer hours have been spent on developing the current displays of railroad artifacts at the museum. Thanks to those who have donated items for our museum.

All of us at the Lehigh Valley Railroad Historical Society would like to thank everyone who attended our open house today. It was a special treat for us to have Lehigh Valley/Penn Central Engineer Doug Parmele with us and Richard Pearson who came all the way from Vermont to be with us and tell some stories of his Trips on the Naples branch with engineer Billy Mclane and crew and we thank him for donating many of the slides you all see on this site and at the museum. Thanks to all the board members (Dave, Jack, Betty Bev, and Deb for everything and to President Ken May for the slide show. Hope everyone had a good time and we hope to see you again soon.

Was out today and took these pictures of what is left of my beloved Lehigh Valley railroad, All 3 pictures were taken in Farmington not far from my home. I wonder what's going on. It seems that the ROW from Manchester yard to the route 332 bridge has had the ROW cleared on both sides. In the second photo taken from the Collett road grade crossing looking west, you can see the ties from Mainline track 2, which was removed in the 1973 or so. In the 3rd photo you can see the approach signal masts for Manchester yard Looking east. Nothing has been cleared west of the route 332 bridge and there is a stop sign in the middle of the tracks. Hopefully the rails will once again be alive with trains and freight.
