Silt Historical Park The Silt Historical Park is a collection of historical buildings from around the area. Each building All activities at the Park are accomplished by volunteers.

The Silt Historical Society owns and operates the Silt Historical Park. The Park was started in the early 1980's on land donated by the School Board. The Library Board donated a modular building that had been the Silt Library, and is now our office and museum. The Park is open from May 1 to October 31, Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 5:00pm and at any other time for special events. By agreement with the School Board all activities at the Park are free to the public. We operate on donations and grants only. In 2012 we started having free family oriented events at the Park. On October 7, 1849, Edgar Allan Poe died in Baltimore at just 40 years old. Today, we remember a writer who helped shape Gothic literature, pioneered the modern detective story, and made fear, grief and obsessive love unforgettable.

From The Raven and Annabel Lee to The Tell-Tale Heart and The Fall of the House of Usher, his works continue to inspire readers, filmmakers and musicians around the world. The circumstances surrounding his death remain a mystery, adding one final unanswered question to his extraordinary story.

177 years later, the one and only Edgar Allan Poe still speaks to every soul that finds beauty in the darkness.

Behold: a Douglas Collapsible Voting Booth from 1920-1935. On display at the Silt Historical Park.
In the late 19th century, changes were introduced to prevent manipulation and make American elections more honest. Voting booths like this provided a private place to mark one's ballot. Don't forget to vote this November 3!

Silt Library Story Time is at the Silt Historical Park, today, Tuesday at 9:30am. Silt Historical Park is at 707 Orchard Ave in Silt. They are chip sealing the street but you can get through.

In honor of our country's 250th anniversary, we are offering free membership to all teenagers to 30 year olds for the 2026-2027 season. Just stop in at the Silt Historical Park 707 Orchard, May 1 to October 31st, Tuesday through Saturday noon to 4pm, and we'll get you set up.
