3 DOWNTOWN GALLERIES CELEBRATE NATIVE AMERICAN ART
TODAY – Saturday, December 16, 2023
1 to 4 pm

Wild West Weaving, Aldea Gallery and Silver City’s newest gallery, New Mexico 32 North, are working together to feature the work of four well-known Native American artists. Their amazing work is immediately recognizable as Native American art of the highest caliber.

Check out: Weaver Marie Shepperd from the Dine (Navajo), Aaron Freeland is an award-winning Dine artist from Farmington, New Mexico, Sculptor John Suazo was born at Taos Pueblo and Leonard Boyd, a sculptor and painter, is a member of the Spokane Tribe.

Silver City Art Association First Fridays Art Gallery Walk AND Weekend At the Galleries

The Silver City Art Association invites you to their 25th Annual Weekend at the Galleries, held in the charming downtown historic district of Silver City, NM!

The Oct 6-8 weekend kicks off with a First Friday gallery walk from 5-7pm—First Fridays mean extended gallery hours, plus fun spilling onto the streets with vintage cars, music and downtown restaurants.

Saturday there will be art demonstrations, galleries filled with unique local art, evening receptions, and other special art events.

The Sunday art walk is from 10am-2pm, with some galleries extending the walk until 5pm.

Want more color in your life?

We went through storage and found 8 boxes of extra quilts made by Donna Flenniken. These quilts are up for grabs tonight. Some are like brand new and some are a little worn--but they still have a lot to offer. We are putting them out for sale tonight at the first “First Friday” art opening tonight downtown at Aldea Galler.

Most are twin & queen sizes. Several have matching pillow shams. The quilts are definitely my mom’s unique colorful style. Prices will range from $50 to $400 for quilts that if new would sell for up to $700.

There is a lot of other art on display as well. So stop by. Open til 7 pm.

ALDEA GALLERY HOLIDAY EVENTS December 2 & 3

Opening - Friday evening, Dec 2, from 5 to 7 PM
Trunk Show - Saturday, Dec 3 from 1 to 4 PM
217 N. Bullard downtown Silver City, NM

Holiday opening featuring a great selection of new fine art and folk art. New from fabric art, multimedia art, new prints of colorful Silver City street scenes and historic sites, and“angel” card designs, perfect for the holidays, will also be available.

Other work includes sculptures, pottery, paintings, jewelry, and hand-painted furniture by local artisans.

Aldea is showing a wonderful private collection of Native American jewelry by Navajo, Hopi, Santa Domingo, Zuni, Lakota Sioux, and Cochiti silversmiths and jewelers.

Light refreshments will be served.
