This is a Plein air piece I completed at the Umpqua Valley Plein air festival this fall. It was a fun time although I find it challenging to keep organized outside and get my values right. This one is a recent painting I completed. It was one of those that just painted itself. These are the ones that seem to turn out the best. The paintings that I labor over and spend hours and hours on are the ones I like the least. 18x18 acrylic.

More of process! Maybe this is overkill and I never start on a big commission without a plan I love in place. I did not quite feel I liked my first color study which was done in Acrylic gouache on watercolor paper(see previous post). This one is done on canvas with Acrylics. I like this one much better. I am currently working on a commission for a large piece. I thought you might like to see my process. Commissions are difficult as you have to match the client's wants with your process. So far I have done 4 pen & ink wash value studies to come up with a composition and 2 color studies. No matter which one I like best, the client will have the final choice.
