Big thanks to Brian with Sidas Spray & Clean for spiffing up our front and soft-washing the mural! Annual mural maintenance is important to protect and preserve the artwork, we are very happy to have a great local company to help us with this task.
We have more fun announcements coming in the next few weeks! 😍

As AI-generated content becomes more common online, it’s becoming increasingly important to practice discernment.

Recently, we’ve seen “historical” posts circulating about Pacific County and the 1800s that include people who never existed and stories with no cited sources. While these posts may sound convincing, AI tools can now generate highly believable content that is completely fabricated.

Social media platforms are also designed to keep our attention and engagement by appealing to emotion - whether that’s nostalgia, sentimentality, outrage, or the simple human instinct to want a good story to be true. Over time, constantly consuming emotionally-driven and unverified content can condition people to become less critical and more susceptible to misinformation.

At the Pacific County Museum, we encourage everyone to pause and ask:
• Where did this information come from?
• Is there a source or citation?
• Can the story be verified?

Technology can be a wonderful tool, but it also makes it easier than ever for fictionalized history and misinformation to spread quickly and convincingly. Preserving history means valuing accuracy as much as storytelling.

We encourage curiosity, thoughtful questioning, and a healthy habit of verifying before sharing.

Museum Month is coming to a close—and this is your final window to experience it all.

If you’ve been meaning to get out and explore, now is the time. Many visitors are making their final rounds—and collector enamel pins are nearly gone at several locations.

Make your last stops count:

• Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center – where history meets the Pacific
• Pacific County Historical Society locations – preserving generations of stories
• Willapa Bay Interpretive Center – opening May 22, just in time to be part of your final stops

Whether you’re close to completing your collection or just getting started, every museum adds another piece to the story.

Finish your passport. Grab the last remaining pins. And experience Museum Month before it’s gone.

This is such a well-done documentary on our local oyster growers, and it is so fun to see the Nisbett sisters who are actively producing oyster video content for Goose Point Oysters!
We have a few sets of the DVD's in the Museum for purchase!

Check out all of the individual pins for Museum Month!

Museum Month has officially kicked off here on Washington’s Evergreen Coast and this year, there’s something extra special waiting for you.

Every participating museum is offering a free collector enamel pin while supplies last. Each one is uniquely designed, making them the perfect keepsake from your visit and a reason to explore them all.

From coastal history to maritime heritage, our museums tell the story of Pacific County in a way you won’t find anywhere else. This is your chance to experience them and walk away with something memorable.

Be sure to stop in, explore, and ask for your pin at each location.
