Wendell Gilley Museum We Bring People Closer to Nature Through Art...
with select pieces of Wendell Gilley's work and others from our permanent collection, plus visiting exhibits.

We offer demonstrations, classes and events of all kinds to bring people together. The Wendell Gilley Museum celebrates the life and work of Wendell Gilley, a pioneer in the field of decorative bird carving. We teach the art of bird carving; and present art exhibitions, programs and events with a special focus on People, Nature, and Art to inspire appreciation of the visual arts, engagement in artistic creativity, and respect and care for the natural world.

We had a blast with Ms. Snurkowski's first-graders from Pemetic Elementary at the Wendell Gilley Museum. We all experienced a little Loon Magic. Here the kids are doing their loon dance to scare off predators.

Thank you Linda - it was a privilege to have your work in the Museum.

The Gilley’s program with Acadia poet Samantha DeFlitch is being rescheduled to September and will NOT happen on Friday April 17 as originally scheduled. A final date is still being determined.

An Acadia National Park Artist-in-Residence, DeFlitch will share poems from her in-progress manuscript, “Singing Ground,” at the Gilley. She is interested in how different registers of speech amplify the tension between loss and hope, and her work emphasizes the importance of perception in addressing environmental crises.

Following the reading, DeFlitch will lead a brief writing exercise .

This event is free and open to all, but registration is required.
