On Thursday, May 18, Outlier Art held an opening night reception for the launch of its pop up gallery with an exhibit of the same name. Held in a space that is currently for rent at 172 Woodport Road in Sparta, the exhibit drew a sizable crowd of 100+. Artists, friends, family and patrons packed the space where the artwork was available for viewing only during the 2 hours of the reception. Intrigued with the pop up concept, visitors and guests quickly became excited with the 64 pieces displaying the artists’ interpretation of outlier with mediums ranging from spray paint to infrared photography.
The centerpiece of the exhibition was a mural titled Everything Must Go, created by a local high school student.
This exhibit and pop up concept opening marks the curatorial debut for local artist and designer, Rose Gong Monier. She was repeatedly asked when and where and what the next exhibit will be. Her reply, “time will tell.”
