Spartanburg Art Museum

Spartanburg Art Museum FREE ADMISSION. PRICELESS ART. The Spartanburg Arts and Crafts Council was founded in 1907 by two local artists, Josephine Sibley Couper and Margaret Law.

Spartanburg Art Museum's mission is to advance contemporary visual arts by inspiring and engaging diverse audiences through exhibitions and education. They chose as their motto,

"Art must not be the occupation of a few, ministering to the luxury of a few; it must be a luxury for all."

Although the Arts and Crafts Council grew and evolved over the years, eventually becoming the Spartanburg Art

Museum in 1968, its dedication to the spirit of that phrase never wavered. Now, over one hundred and ten years later, the Spartanburg Art Museum resides in a 3,000 square foot space located in the Chapman Cultural Center. SAM's exhibition calendar boasts a diverse range of contemporary exhibitions and offers a wide variety of educational and community programs for all ages and demographics. SAM is funded in part by The Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg and its donors, the County and City of Spartanburg, and the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives support from The National Endowment for the Arts.

So excited to be pairing with Duncan Cecil to create the dishes and Chef Jimmy Nguyen to host this amazing ceramic class and dinner in SAM's Gallery!! Please click the link below if you are interested in being a part of this very special event!!

This event has two parts:
The first part will be on June 7th in the Spartanburg Art Museum Studio This part will have two time slots, 10am and 2pm, and 8 seats max per class. Each class will consist of being guided in a class, working with clay and hand-crafting 3 of your very own plate ware! No experience required! It'll then be sent off to the kiln and that will take about 2-3 weeks to be glazed, fired, then set.

The next part of the event is a multicourse dinner on June 26th that will take place inside the Spartanburg Art Museum! A dinner experience like no other that is curated to be enjoyed together with the very art you invested into.
