Located in Troy Township, near Spring Green, WI, the Harrisburg School is one of the last remaining one-room country schools in the county. Built in 1892, the school was closed in 1955 when all county schools were consolidated. Ever since the Sauk County Historical Society obtained the property several years ago, a dedicated group of preservationists has been at work, restoring this once functiona
l bastion of learning. "It shall be the mission of the Harrisburg Historical Society to collect, preserve and disseminate knowledge of the history of this area. The Society shall refurbish, maintain and display the Harrisburg School as a historic model of a one room Town of Troy School." HHS needs interior items for their one room school. Such items include a teacher's desk, recitation table, maps, library and textbooks; though other items may also be of interest. Such donations should be vintage of the era prior to 1955. Feel free to contact Society President Carol Anderson. Town of Troy and other native residents may be interested in joining the Society and receiving a newsletter. If so, please contact any current Society member or:
