Please help bring in a donation of ANY AMOUNT today.

We need to raise $3,600 by 12/31/2024 to receive a matching challenge grant. Thank you to those who have already donated (we received amounts from $20 to $250) so far this month. Just $5 from everyone who sees this will take us over the top!

help - more if you can afford, and if you cannot, asking others helps too.

The money will be used for some urgent exterior repairs and to make the interior more accessible.

We have sold cottage raffle tickets and engraved pavers this month - but unfortunately that revenue doesn't count toward the match.

The Rachel Carson Homestead provides programs for all, and is open to the public.

Thank you for considering, and best wishes for the holidays and throughout the new year!

"In nature, nothing exists alone." Rachel Carson's words in Silent Spring, published in 1962, drove revolutionary changes in government policy around the environment - especially the indiscriminate use of pesticides. As a result of Rachel Carson's landmark book, President John F. Kennedy formed a Presidential Advisory Committee that affirmed her findings. Rachel Carson literally woke up the conscience of the world about human health and launched the environmental movement. The immense significance of Rachel Carson's legacy was once again demonstrated by the donation of the Carson family's china. Barbara and Hugh traveled from Virginia to deliver Haviland china pieces they acquired at auction many years ago in Tarentum, PA. Jeanne Cecil, Executive Director of RCHA graciously accepted the donation and provided a tour of the homestead to the couple. Thank you for this incredible gift!
