The Amy H. Carberry Fine Arts Gallery at Springfield Technical Community College proudly presents the Spring 2026 Student Fine Arts Exhibition on view from Tuesday, April 28, through Saturday, May 9, 2026.

This exhibition will conclude with a “Friends and Family” reception on Saturday, May 9, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Each semester, the STCC Fine Arts program faculty selects work to showcase their students' best creations. From oil paintings and intricate designs to portraits and 3D sculptures to traditional gelatin silver photographs and many other outstanding art projects, the artwork represents the culmination of a semester’s efforts. Regardless of academic major or career goals, fine art courses are open to everyone; no prior art experience is required to register.

This show also highlights the work of eight STCC Fine Arts majors graduating this May: Alaina Brackley, Luz Marcano, Allan Cangelosi, Aaron Rathburn, Judah Rios, Melissa Mejia Mendez, Julia Salazar, and Marah Wedderburn.

A public reception is scheduled for Saturday, May 9. Accessible parking is available in the K Lot. Use the Pearl Street gate for easy access. The gallery and all events are free to the public.

Faces of Grief

Grief is one of the most profound emotions people grapple with in our human condition. Often leaving us uncertain and at a loss for words, the stigma attached to grief can be stifling and isolating. Many of us instinctively avoid the topic, changing the subject as soon as it arises. But what if we could transform that discomfort into a powerful dialogue?

STCC’s Fine Arts Program, led by Professor Sondra Peron in partnership with Shelly Bathe Lenn, Bereavement Coordinator at Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice, and The Garden: A Center for Grieving Children and Teens, developed a unique photography exhibition focused on analogue photography and the theme of grief.

Using 35mm and medium format film, with some digital capture, ART 250 photography students took portraits of Western MA community members from STCC and Cooley Dickinson who were holding, wearing, or displaying something that connected them to someone in their lives who had passed away.

On view through February 6, these 26 photographic portraits, consisting of gelatin silver prints, along with poems and text, honor loved ones and offer meaningful support and connection to those grieving.

A public reception will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 11am to 1pm.

With much gratitude and heartfelt thanks to everyone involved—

Cooley Dickinson sitters: Evan Lenn, Amy Brown, Joel Walker, Roslyn Helfen, Jessica Feldheim, Art Schiller, Terri Hamill, Nancy Diessner, Christine Biegner, Paula Cleary, Janice Norcott, Greysen Bringaze, Shelly Bathe Lenn

STCC faculty, staff, and student sitters: Diane Sabato, Benjamin Goulet, Stephen Mayton, Luz Rios-Garcia, Quantisha Williams, Kat Good-Schiff, Jennifer Michaelian, Tyler Michaelian, Smith Michaelian, Wayne Michaelian, Jr., Sondra Peron, Julia Salazar, Elsa Ademi, Kristina “Tina” Scott, and Kevin McMenamin

ART 250 darkroom student photographers: Elsa Ademi, Tiffany Clayton, Carla Diaz German, Madyson Everett, Kevin McMenamin, Mercedes Moore, Benjamin Podmore, Kristina Scott, Kevin Smith, and Julia Salazar.

STCC's Fine Arts Program celebrated the conclusion of adjunct faculty and exhibiting artist Jorge Costa's show at the Carberry Gallery with a student workshop.
