Looking for big Halloween fun? The candy hunt is on ! 🍬🎃

Wear your costume and explore the Springfield Museums during a full day of Halloween activities on October 24:

🎨 Face painting and trick-or-treat bag decorating, 10 am–2 pm
🫧 Giant bubbles, 11 am–2 pm, weather permitting
🍬 Trick-or-treating in the galleries, 11 am–3 pm
📚 Campfire tales, 11 am–3 pm
👹 Creature Feature headbands, 12–4 pm

Halloween at the Museums is free with museum admission. Activities and treats are available while supplies last.

The Spellbound Silent Auction opens online October 15 at 10 am, with unusual items and experiences including Josh Simpson glass art, a personalized cosmic music experience in the Seymour Planetarium, a custom-painted Louis Vuitton handbag, original paintings, golf packages, and cultural destinations from around the region.

We asked two Springfield Museums staff members to choose their favorite paintings and explain what keeps drawing them back.

Beginning Saturday, October 10, visitors will have even more to explore when In Nature’s Studio: Two Centuries of American Landscape Painting opens at the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition brings together more than 65 paintings spanning the early 19th through the late 20th century.

The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum and Springfield Science Museum will open early for a quieter, more welcoming museum experience. Select exhibits will be modified to accommodate a range of sensory needs and abilities.

💙 Trained staff and volunteers will be available to assist.
🤫 Quiet spaces will be available for anyone who needs to take a break.
🎨 Sensory-friendly crafts for all ages in the Cat’s Corner.

Parents and caregivers must remain with their children throughout their visit.

A look back at Storybook Harvest! 🍂📚

Families welcomed fall this weekend with leaf characters, farm collages, autumn scrapbooks, pumpkin-seed guesses, story time, balloon animals and plenty of creativity along the way. 🍁🎨

Thank you to everyone who spent part of their Saturday with us! We’re also grateful to the Springfield City Library for sharing stories and Professor Knows a Lot for the seemingly endless supply of balloon animals. 🎈

The night sky has a seasonal calendar of its own. What will you see this fall? 🌙✨

Join us for Stars Over Springfield on Friday, October 2, for an evening of astronomy .

This month’s topic is The Four Seasons. Explore why our view of the night sky changes throughout the year, what to look for in the coming weeks, and some of the celestial sights of 2027.

The evening includes a short talk by a local astronomy expert, hands-on activities or demonstrations, a planetarium show featuring our historic Korkosz starball and new Zeiss projector, and stargazing from the Springfield Science Museum’s rooftop observatory.
