Witness a uniquely American story and immerse yourself in St. Built in 1851, the first house in the elegant neighborhood Lucas Place, the Campbell House was the home of renowned fur trader and entrepreneur Robert Campbell and his family from 1854 until 1938. The museum contains hundreds of original Campbell possessions including furniture, paintings

, clothing, letters, carriages and a unique set of interior photographs taken in the mid-1880s. After a monumental five-year, $3 million restoration Campbell House now stands as one of the most accurately restored 19th Century buildings in America.

Lecture at the Campbell House this Sunday, May 31st 2026, at 2 pm! Gregory Wolk talks about his new book, “John Frémonts 100 Days: Clashes and Convictions in Civil War Missouri”. The book describes the eventful 100 days in 1861 that western explorer John C. Fremont commanded the Western Department of the US Army from headquarters in St. Louis. Street parking is free on Sundays; no reservation needed! Check it out!

Join Campbell House director, Andy Hahn, on a walk­ing tour of Lucas Place, St. Louis’ first pri­vate place. This Monday, the East Lucas Place tour will visit 13th to 14th street. This Tuesday, the West Lucas Place tour will visit 15th to 16th street. You will focus on the side of the street that was lined with expensive homes. Tours last approximately 90 minutes.
