of her own work curated by Ellen Gordon

April 21st thru June 26th 2026
Artists’ Reception: Thursday, May 21, 2026 5 - 7:30pm

The Mayor’s Gallery is proud to present “Lina Morielli: Selected Works”. Lina Morielli had curated over 90 exhibitions, worked with over a hundred artists and arts organizations over a period of 15 years at the Mayor’s Gallery when she handed the baton to Ellen Gordon. Now, Ms. Gordon has invited her to exhibit a selection of her recent work in a solo exhibition. The exhibit will be on display from April 21st thru June 26th, 2026.

The artists’ reception is scheduled for May 21st from 5:00 – 7:30 pm where the public is invited to meet the artist.

Ms. Morielli’s displayed artwork, created during the early days of the pandemic delves into the subconscious, exploring the fragments of memory, the shadows of trauma and the fluidity of time in our current lives. Her creations are shaped by both global events and personal experiences, resulting in a rich visual language filled with evolving symbols and markings. Each piece serves as a dialogue between her internal landscape and external influences. Over more than fifty years, her choice of materials and forms has transformed, mirroring the changing realms of thought, emotion and history. This ongoing process of self-expression highlights the dynamic nature of creativity, reflection and sometimes reshaping our lived experiences.
Lina Morielli was born in Montreal, Canada and grew up in Darien, Connecticut. Her experience in art and design includes studies at Parsons School of Design and three decades in New York City designing and editing crafts for Woman’s Day and Family Circle magazines among others. This background in craft informs the tactile nature of her studio practice where, Morielli explains, the “immediacy of materials…help me access and express my ideas quickly.”
