Mississippi PMPs,
The Formosan subterranean termite has been officially confirmed in Wayne County for the first time. At this time only a small number of specimens have been found.

Thank you to Mississippi PMP Michael West with West Pest Control for working with his BPI Inspector and getting these submitted to the Insect ID Lab. If you find Formosans in a county where they are not yet considered "established" (see map) please collect and ship them with collection info to the address here: https://extension.msstate.edu/insects/insect-identification

Mississippi PMPs:

My colleague with the Mississippi Entomological Museum and I have produced an poster with in-depth information on identifying 6 of the more common pest ants in the Midsouth. A PDF is freely available at: https://extension.msstate.edu/publications/common-pest-ants-the-midsouth.

Thanks to a grant we will be printing out three hundred 35" x 23" posters and will also be offering them to Mississippi companies for their office as a reference for technicians. More details about obtaining a poster coming soon!
