Our science center offers interactive STEM exhibits and hands-on programs in a fun learning environment. Our makerspace, The Rivet, helps our community build the skills to make or fix just about anything. Continually seeking to spark curiosity and creativity, we serve everyone from toddlers to seniors. Discovery Space of Central Pennsylvania is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Build Your Own Combat Robot at The Rivet! 💥

This is your chance to design, build, and then DESTROY in the arena. 🛠️ Presented in partnership with Centre STEM powering Centre County 4-H Robotics, this 90-min class will get you competition-ready with your very own Plastic Ant-class combat robot.

You'll automatically be entered to compete at Maker Faire Happy Valley on October 3 at Axemann Brewery.

$250 fee per team/robot includes all materials, tools, and instruction

Choose your session based on age/competition group, all run 6:00 - 7:30pm:

Discovery Space will be closed from Monday, August 24 through Friday, September 4 for our annual reset and deep cleaning.

Every summer, we take a short break to refresh our space and get ready for the exciting fall season of exhibits, programs, and events.

The creative juices were flowing in last week's camp, A Marine Scene! These young thespians worked in troupes to write, rehearse, and perform their own show inspired by our Marine Life Center. 🐠🌊🎭

From script writing to costume and prop creation, our campers brought their own ideas to life! Plus, our Middle School campers at built a brand new stage and props, and even designed the set.

The show was a hit, and as one of our campers put it "teamwork makes you stronger than you think". Thanks to our campers of all ages who helped make this show a reality! We can't wait to see what you create next. 💙

🌟 What could your child build, explore, and discover over the next few years?

Professional Pathways at Discovery Space is a multi-year STEM program designed to grow with young people ages 8–18. Along the way, participants earn badges, build new skills, tackle challenges, and learn through hands-on experiences.

Join us for a FREE Professional Pathways Info Session to learn about the program levels, what participants can expect throughout the year, and opportunities for projects, outreach, service, mentorship, and leadership.

This year, participants can explore two pathways:

🐠 Marine Life — Dive into marine biology, aquarium systems, animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and science communication.

⚙️ Technology & Design — Explore engineering, prototyping, 3D design, circuitry, graphic design, 3D printing, laser engraving, and more.

Calling all LEGO-loving STEM explorers in grades 2–4!

This fall, Discovery Space is hosting a FIRST LEGO League Explore team focused on biodiversity, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving.

Students will explore local ecosystems, investigate environmental challenges, and use LEGO Education SPIKE kits to design and program their own solutions. The program wraps up with a special family event to showcase their projects!
