SUMMER SCIENCE with the Staten Island Museum and STEM Matters NYC!

Channel your creative energy into hands-on, minds-on STEM projects, inventions and design challenges. Think like inventors and engineers while participating in workshops focusing on the design process. Campers identify problems, brainstorm ideas, design solutions, build prototypes, test, evaluate and redesign. Explore themes of biodiversity, sustainability and environmental resilience to build, invent, and experiment while engaging in team activities and games that challenge your creativity and spark your imagination.

The Staten Island Museum was honored to host the 5 Boroughs Music Festival last weekend and the amazing Joseph Parrish (Baritone), Margaret Kampmeier (Piano), and Alex Fortes (Violin).

The concert was intimate, moving, and extraordinary. The audience had the opportunity to meet these world class musicians and learn more about the composers Antonin Dvorak and Henry Burleigh.

The Staten Island Museum was thrilled to participate in last weekend's Bio Blitz. The museum's Director of Natural Science, Colleen Evans, set up in Clove Lakes Park to check out the insect population.

The Bio Blitz was conducted in partnership with New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, Staten Island Zoo, Freshkills Park and The Greenbelt Conservancy.

Staff field trip for the opening of Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses at the Brooklyn Museum last night.

Staten Island Museum is proud to loan specimens from our natural sciences collection to accompany this stunning exhibition of fashion design inspired by the interconnectedness of nature, alongside objects from American Museum of Natural History and the . Our teams are also collaborating on educational programming. Check out the exhibition from May 16 - Dec 6.

Thank you to Deputy Speaker & Cultural Affairs Chair Dr. Nantasha Williams and the Staten Island Delegation, Majority Whip Kamillah Hanks, Minority Leader David Carr and Councilmember for the 51st District Frank Morano for spending the day touring our incredible cultural institutions here on Staten Island.

The Staten Island Museum was proud to showcase the Staten Island Triennial exhibition, work on ACE Gen - Access, Collaboration and Equity in Genealogy and to talk about our forthcoming STEAM Education Center.

Orchestra of St. Luke’s, joined by baritone Joseph Parrish, celebrates the friendship between Harry T. Burleigh, the pioneering Black American composer, and Antonín Dvořák, the renowned Czech composer. Their collaboration, rooted in spirituals and folk music, helped shape a distinctly American sound that continues to inspire us today.

The Staten Island Museum will be closed Wednesday through Friday May 6 - 8, 2026 for maintenance. The museum will be open again Saturday and Sunday May 9 - 10, 2026 with limited access.
