I create one-of-a-kind mixed media mosaics and jewelry - one tiny piece at a time - treasures waiting to be found by just the right person. I love live theater, chasing clouds and sunsets, and long to travel to see the world's wonders. Plus I make the best banana bread (with chocolate chips, of course)."

Pastel Paintings are not chalk! Soft pastel is the medium for all paintings that are under glass. The pigments are incredibly durable- unlike chalk.

ABOUT PASTEL PAINTINGS:
It’s not chalk! Soft pastel is the medium for all the paintings that are under glass. A pastel stick consists of pure pigment and a binder. The pigments are incredibly durable – unlike chalk - as seen in the lovely ballet paintings by Edgar Degas created over a century ago.

Two challenges with pastel painting: 1) finding the right stick even though I have a few hundred color choices and 2) framing each piece takes at least one hour.

The next exhibit at Gallery Q is open now through June 26 and features paintings by Dan Sivek!

The origin of this show comes from Dan's travels and admiration for the beauty in nature. "I’ve visited every National Park in the continental U.S. and been inspired to paint a few of them. This show honors the beauty of several more, along with other public lands. I hope this art inspires you to continue to fight to protect these places."
