A warm welcome to Carol C. Young to the gallery for “A Berkshire Summer.”

“My technique is spontaneous. I want to capture the moment in my painting, intrigued by the patterns created by sunlight, shadows and shapes at that time of day.”

Carol C. Young is a fine art painter and designer. Her contemporary acrylics are primarily identified by a bold use of light and shadow along with iconic depictions of the rural landscape. She creatively interprets these images to her canvas with brilliant color. Carol tries to capture the changing landscape, particularly ones that include old barn structures that are in jeopardy of vanishing from existence.

Carol received a fine arts major from the College of New Rochelle, NY. Her paintings have won several awards on Minted.com; best in show at the Pequot Library Art show in CT; first place in acrylics at the Rowayton Arts Center, CT; second place for acrylics at the Mary O. Fritchie Art Show in Westhampton Beach, NY. Her artwork is displayed in several galleries and private collections both locally and internationally.

Damian Loeb is a self-taught American painter. His work has consistently explored the dialogue of narrative tropes in an image soaked contemporary environment. Early works used found imagery collaged to create new contexts from photojournalism and advertising. Successive shows moved on to use and explore cinematic stills as the source of a visual collective consciousness. Having taught himself photography in recent years, his latest body of work takes the dialogue to the next step by incorporating the vocabulary of cinematography and the expediency of his original photographs as inspiration for the new painting.

Loeb has had international solo and group shows at many museums, including White Cube, London; Hamburger Kunsthalle, Hamburg, Germany; and a 2006 retrospective at The Aldrich. Originally from Connecticut, he now lives and works in New York.

Adam Cardello is a Los Angeles based artist, most drawn to the formal aspects of abstract and non-representational painting: color and color theory, shapes and the role of negative space, tensions formed through the way soft and hard edges approach and touch each other on the painted surface, and the application of opaque versus transparent paint.

Cardello approaches his paintings with a mix of intuition and process–allowing the constraints of the medium to guide his artistic decisions.
