The eastern part of Kansas is heavily forested. Go about 20 miles East of Salina/I35 and the trees vanish unless they are along ponds or creeks. Sadly they are ripping out the evergreens. Ppl say the are a nusanse, but a tree is a tree. Also banks are saying you don't EXACTLY have X amount of pasture land. Part of it has trees so we can't give you a loan for $X; but if you tear out the trees we could give you the full amount. Heard this from several farmers.

Alright, after looking at the forecast for tomorrow where they are calling up to 6 inches of snow, plus blowing snow the Museum WON'T be open tomorrow the 4th. Depending on what forecast you listen to we either have a winter weather advisory, or a winter storm watch. In either case this is Kansas, we haven't had much snow and his year and mother nature is about to make up for part of it. Personally I'm expecting blizzard conditions in parts of the area. Be safe, drive slow, and don't go out unless you have to!

Just finished the last tour for Stockton Elementary, the 3rd grade class and as always they and I had a BALL! Having the kids in is so much fun taking them on tours, talking to them, answering questions; and sometimes putting them on the spot by using them as examples of people living in the past. Asked if they wanted to come back and got a RESOUNDING YES!!!! Oh, I do hope they come back. if the kids will come, the parents or grandparents will come also. When I told them that the museum is turned into a haunted museum in October their eyes lit up like fireworks. The kids said they DEFINITELY wanted to come back for that. Told each class that they each needed to send a letter to me so I can show my bosses that he kids wanted something like it. So, let's see what happens and if they remember.

Just finished a tour with the 5th grade classes from Stockton Elementary. 32 kids, 3 teachers and me. HAD A BALL!!! The kids liked it a lot, I liked it and they want to come back again which is important. Additionally, when I told them I have the museum turned into a haunted museum in October the kids said they DEFINITELY said they wanted to have that.

We now have access to ALL, ALL the Plainville newspapers from 1884 - 2012, and some 2013 papers. They have all been digitalized and put on line courtesy of the Plainville Public Library! This is TREMENDOUS!!!!

I came across this going through the Plainville Times Newspaper of July 30, 1921 and it rings true to me, and hopefully you also.

The Sundays school was rather on the bumb last Sunday, as every body was sleeping, working or visiting, more than usual. Here are three great enemies to Sunday school and church work. Remedy, sleep at night, arise at 5 o'clock Sunday morning; don't work on the Lords day, God condemns it; attend Sunday school and church every Sunday; visit before or after Sunday school and church. Result, we will have less sickness and death, less crop failures, less crop devouring pests, hence devouring pests, hence better health, longer life, better crops, less devouring pests. Who said so? God. Read Malachai 3:7 - 18. S.S. Supt.
