Today is 209Gives, a countywide day of giving supporting local nonprofits across San Joaquin County, and it runs until 11:59 PM tonight (PST).

Many of these organizations are doing work quietly behind the scenes every day: supporting youth programs, arts education, food access, housing, animal rescue, community events, advocacy, and care for people throughout our region. Small nonprofits especially rely on community support to continue growing and serving others.

If there is an organization you care about, today is a great day to support them, even if it’s a small amount. Donations truly add up and make a difference locally.

You can browse participating nonprofits here: 209Gives Leaderboards

Please also consider sharing this so more people know it’s happening before the day ends.

San Joaquin County in the room with the other 57 counties!

Day 0 of the CA Arts and Culture Summit. Today was the convening of State-Local Partners, with the full summit and the 50th anniversary celebration of the California Arts Council () beginning tomorrow.

This is our third year attending in Sacramento, joining arts leaders from across the state as a State-Local Partner mentee.

This continued presence matters.

San Joaquin County is one of the last counties without a designated State-Local Partner, and being in this room year after year is part of moving that forward. We are building relationships, learning from counties with established arts infrastructure, and ensuring our community is included in statewide conversations.

It was refreshing to hear others speak openly about the challenges we experience in the arts, especially around workforce and funding. At the same time, it was energizing to see the level of commitment and advocacy happening across the state.

From advocacy to resources, from youth programs to regional investment, this work is about expanding opportunities, even for San Joaquin County.

Artists, we are at the table.
