This Friday, May 22nd 6-7pm

We’re excited to open this year’s Concerts on the Green series with perennial favorite, Ed Fast, this time accompanied by the Conga Bop Supertet! This group features Afro-Cuban influenced rhythms and hard-bop harmony fused to create unique, soulful originals and creatively arranged jazz standards. The repertoire reflects a tribute to the genre’s most celebrated practitioners. Bring a blanket or chair and come join us on the Stonington Commons green!

This concert is FREE.

with Sara Sherman

This is not your typical book talk!
Resonant Minds: The Transformative Power of Music, One Note at a Time explores how music can be used as a practical, everyday tool for emotional regulation, focus, and connection—grounded in neuroscience, brought to life through storytelling, and felt through shared experience.

In this interactive event, author Sara Leila Sherman—musician, educator, founder of Mozart for Munchkins—brings together two generations of insight into how music supports mental wellness across the lifespan through the book she wrote with her father, longtime educator and national leader in public education Mort Sherman. 

Through live piano and voice, guided listening, audience reflection, and science-backed strategies, Sara leads participants through a live, immersive experience—inviting you to experience music not simply as performance, but as a resource you can carry into daily life.
No musical background required—just curiosity, a willingness to listen, and an openness to experience how music can support focus, calm, and connection in everyday life.

Books will also be available for sale at the event.

Exhibit Opening: Stonington Plein Air Art Club

Presented in partnership with the Stonington Garden Club, we are pleased to present an exhibit featuring the works of Stonington’s Plein Air Art Club. A variety of works and styles will be on view and for sale, with all proceeds benefiting La Grua Center’s year-round programming. Come enjoy a glass of wine while you peruse the offerings, and help support the arts in our community!

Music Matters: What We Do For Love with Keyprano Duo

Married musical duo Drs. Gabriel and Allison Landstedt reimagine classical song recital as a playground of modern storytelling. Finalists of the 2022 Astral Artists National Competition, Keyprano Duo has inspired audiences across the U.S. and Canada through their impassioned voice-piano performances that span from Debussy, Broadway, to Chopin. Shaped by years of doctoral research in musical narrative, storytelling, and collaborative techniques, Keyprano Duo’s sweeping programs are heartwarming and inspiring.

Tickets $25 online only at LaGruaCenter.org. There may be a limited number of tickets available at the door the day of the concert. Doors open at 4:30pm.

The Summer Soirée will feature an in-person silent and live auction, and we would love to celebrate with you. Auction bidding is part of the event experience, so guests must attend to participate. If you cannot attend but would like to bid, please contact us about arranging a proxy.
