We made it to spring here in the Creek and the signs are all around us!

Here’s to chirping feathered friends and pathways lined with colorful blooms…

And, a reminder, the museum opens for the season on Memorial Day weekend! See you then!

The oldest surviving French major work of literature (The Song of Roland) is a poem based on the historical Battle of Ronceveux Pass, August 15, 778.

The 4,004 lines of this heroic poem are a historical look at the very beginning of conveying stories to be performed aloud. The construction of the plotlines remains an inspiration to writers today.

You are invited to learn more at our Macri-Weil Sicilian Puppetry Exhibit when the museum opens for the 2026 season on Memorial Day Weekend!

Grand Central style was designed by the firms Reed and Stem and Warren and Wetmore. It has become one of our country's iconic buildings with the beautiful pink Stony Creek granite on full display.

Completed in 1913, the Beaux Arts style structure features symmetrical elevations and lavish ornamentation such as the group of sculptures surrounding the great clock.

Just one example of Stony Creek making a mark on !

This year was filled with memorable moments that celebrated our community, our history, and the spirit of Stony Creek:

• Flesh and Stone’s 25th Anniversary — a monthly series at the Willoughby Wallace Library honored this milestone publication.
• A Day at the Museum — Branford campers spent a fun-filled day exploring our village and museum.
• Oysters and More! — a September night to remember, complete with oyster education, great food, twinkling lights, live music, and great company.
• An Evening with Jacques Pépin — the world-renowned chef joined us for a cookbook signing and charcuterie reception, delighting guests with his stories and charm.
• Quarry Tour — a beautiful October day offered visitors a rare glimpse into the origins of Stony Creek granite.
• A Tribute to a Special Creeker — a new granite patio, soon to grace the museum grounds, will stand as a lasting honor to one of our own.

Thank you for helping us amaze, excite, and educate our Stony Creek Museum community. Your annual investment supports free admission for all—students, scouts, and seniors alike—and sustains our mission to collect, preserve, and share the history, culture, and stories of Stony Creek and the Thimble Islands.
