The University of Connecticut Historical Costume and Textile Collection is a resource for research into the past through the vast collection of over 8000 pieces. These donations have been given to the historical collection to be restored and maintained to become an educational resource. This goal will be accomplished through the Virtual Museum that we are working on at present. The Virtual Museum

will provide the 360º images and historical descriptions of each garment. This museum will be great tool to share the history collection with a durability that the delicacy of the garments cannot.

Thank you, Dale Rose, for mounting a lovely exhibition at the Mansfield Community Center featuring 46 sketches and 1 costume. It has generated comments such as, “So have all these sketches turned into actual costumes like the one on display?” People are a bit astounded when I say, “Oh yes. There are ten to twenty costumes built for each production, and I’ve designed over 300 productions, so a minimum of 3000 and more like 6000 costumes have actually been made based my costume renderings.” Open until end of December at 10 South Eagleville Road in Storrs, M-F 6am - 9:30pm, S/S 8-4.
