Stratham Historical Society Annual Meeting & Pot Luck Supper welcomes SHS members. Each attendee or pair of attendees is encouraged to bring along a salad, starter, entree or dessert intended to serve up to eight people. We don't tell you which course to bring, but the offerings have always worked out beautifully. There is no scheduled program. At the suggestion of Alison Brackett and with unanimous support at last year's supper, we are encouraging you to bring an antique or vintage serving tray, flatware, dishes or glassware and be prepared to share a brief descriptive background on your cherished collectible(s). In addition to your food item, please bring along your own personal beverage of choice, dishware and utensils. We look forward to breaking bread with you next week!

What a great opportunity

Stratham Fire Department members and relatives are invited to apply for the Pete Morgera Scholarship. The Scholarship is awarded and presented to a member or descendent of the Stratham Volunteer Fire Department based on academic record and an essay regarding the importance of community service. Applications can be found at the station and are due May 15.
Airman First Class Peter J. Morgera was one of 19 Americans killed by a terrorist bomb at Khobar Towers, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia on June 25, 1996. Prior to entering the US Air Force, Pete graduated from Exeter Area High School, was an active member of the Stratham Volunteer Fire Department and volunteered for other activities. With the Scholarship, we hope to assist students in the area with similar sense of community to further their education beyond high school.

We often receive inquiries from Stratham descendants researching their ancestors at the Stratham Historical Society. This week we were visited by Jill Rigg and her husband Steve from Utah. Jill is a descendant of Stratham's first settler Captain Thomas Wiggin through his son Andrew. Dori Wiggin, also descended from Thomas Wiggin and his son Andrew. The two distant cousins met for the first time under the portraits of George A. and Emma B. Wiggin whose bequests built the Wiggin Memorial Library in 1911 now occupied by the Stratham Historical Society. Jill is pictured on the left, Dori is on the right.
