Last chance to apply for 8 weeks of living and creating in one of the most unique artist residencies in the Midwest! There's still time—we haven’t closed the application window yet so if you’re thinking about applying, now is the time.

This fall, one Midwest artist will live and work at one of Door County's most iconic structures: the Dome House. Built into the sand dunes along the shores of Lake Michigan and nestled beside Whitefish Dunes State Park, this twin-domed concrete home was designed in 1978 by artist and printmaker Al Quinlan as a creative space.

The selected artist will have access to a private live/work space, dedicated studio and exhibit space, and all utilities + internet + stipend. In return, residents are given time and space to advance their work, and share their creative process with the community through workshops, open studios, artist talks, and other public programming.

The residency is open to emerging and mid-career artists residing in the Midwest working in drawing, painting, printmaking, and photography.

The program carries forward the vision of the Quinlan family and museum founder Gerhard Miller of connecting artists and community through the power of place. 🏡

What a night! ✨

The 52nd Annual Salon of Door County High School Art opened Monday evening to a packed house—our galleries full of students, families, teachers, neighbors, and friends. It was and remains, as our Executive Director said from the podium, one of our favorite evenings of the year.

Congratulations to all participants! We are so proud to share this work with our community, and grateful for the teachers—Nicole Herbst, Melanie Jones, Klayton Kindt, Billie Moore, and Emily Salm—who make it all possible. They show up every day and do the steady, patient work of helping their students find their voices.

Huge thanks to our generous sponsors who made this year’s exhibition possible:
🌟 Presenting Sponsors: Dennis and Bonnie Connolly, and Hermke and Elke Timm.
🌟 Supporting Sponsors: John and Kathy Campbell, Chris Cramer in memory of Tricia Cramer, the Jacksonport Women’s Club, Nicolet Bank, Barb and Mike Madden, PenArt, and the Scholz Family in memory of Ruth Scholz.

Additional funding provided by the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts.

If you weren't able to make it Monday, don't worry—the exhibit is up through Saturday, May 23, 2026, and it is absolutely worth the visit. Free, as always, and open to everyone. We think you'll be pretty amazed. 🎨

Our annual Salon of Door County High School Art returns, and will be on view April 4 - May 23, 2026.

This long-standing exhibition—now more than 50 years strong—is the Peninsula’s largest annual student art exhibition. Each year, talented high school students from Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay, Sevastopol, Gibraltar, and Washington Island schools showcase their creativity across a range of mediums, from painting and sculpture to photography and digital art. This year, nearly 150 works will be on display in the museum’s main galleries.

Join us for the Opening Reception & Awards Celebration | 52nd Annual Salon of Door County High School Art and help us celebrate the imagination, creativity, and hard work of our County's young artists!

📍 The event is free and open to the public and takes place on Monday, April 6 from 7 – 8:30 PM. Location: 107 S. 4th Avenue, downtown Sturgeon Bay.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the Miller Art Museum! ❤️

If there’s one thing we’re reminded of every day, it’s this: art is about connection.

It’s about the quiet moment when a piece of art stops you in your tracks. It’s about conversations that begin in the gallery and continue long after you leave. It’s about artists who trust us with their stories—and supporters who believe those stories matter. It reminds us that we’re part of something larger than ourselves.

To our donors, museum members, artists, volunteers, community partners, and visitors: you are the heart of our museum. Because of you, the museum continues to grow, connect, and inspire.

Thank you for being part of it.

With gratitude today—and always.
