A great opportunity to experience one of the most interesting artists in the state.
Bazyli Studio Wearable and Textile Art Gallery will host a special Natural Dyeing and Printing Presentation on Friday, October 2, featuring textile artist Peter Ciesla.
The hands-on presentation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., followed by an informal discussion and light refreshments from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Visitors are welcome to stop by at their convenience throughout the day to observe the process and learn more about the art and science of natural dyeing and botanical printing.
Ciesla will demonstrate the complete process, beginning with fabric preparation and continuing through the selection and placement of plants, the creation of botanical designs, and the wrapping of fabric bundles. Guests will then see how the bundles are steamed and ultimately unraveled to reveal the resulting patterns and colors.
In addition to demonstrating the artistic process, Ciesla will explain the chemistry behind natural dyeing and botanical printing, offering insight into how plants, fabrics, heat, moisture, and other elements work together to create unique textile designs.
Whether you are an experienced textile artist, a student of natural dyes, or simply curious about how plants can be transformed into wearable and textile art, the presentation offers an opportunity to see this fascinating process unfold from beginning to end.
